There's a new "Terminator" film looking for a studio and Arnold Schwarzenegger is attached to it. He really is coming back, isn't he?
In its headline about the project, the Los Angeles Times asks the question: "Is it a good idea?"
No. It's not a good idea to do a new "Terminator" movie with Schwarzenegger. It's a terrible idea, especially when considering the last two "Terminator" films.
The mildly diverting "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" gave us a good car/crane chase but ultimately proved that once you've gone liquid metal, you can't go back. No new ideas, just stuff blowing up, including most of the Earth. And this is nitpicky and nerdy, but the terminator is a machine, right? So why did the T-101 move like a 55-year-old man?
The best part of "Terminator Salvation" was the media blitz following news of Christian Bale's on-set shouting tirade.
The one not-bad part of the "Terminator 5" idea (not its official title) is that it does not pick up the storyline where "Terminator: Salvation" ends, reports the L.A. Times. The project has no screenwriter or script but the rights are being shopped by Creative Artists Agency. Schwarzenegger would star and Justin Lin is the director.
